#1 Independent Age Charity

Independent Age can provide you and your family with clear, free and impartial advice on the issues that matter: care and support, money and benefits, health and mobility. As the name suggests, they’re an independent charity and were founded over 150 years ago so have plenty of years experience.

Their website is a fantastic source of information on all areas of home care including getting a care needs assessment, getting extra help at home, disability equipment, technology to keep you safe at home and equipment if you’re living with sight or hearing loss.

#2 Care Quality Commission (CQC)

CQC are the independent regulator of health and social care in England. They aim to show you what good home care looks like to help you to make choices about your care. CQC have a really useful ‘What can you expect from a good care agency?’ guide to download which covers the 5 key questions they ask when inspecting care providers.

#3 Which? Later Life Care

Which? offer free, independent and practical guidance about making care choices across the UK. Their website is full of useful information including a simple tool to find out how much care might cost and your eligibility for financial support.

Age UK provide free information and advice to help you with a range of areas including where to start, what type of care and support you need and who pays for it and much more.

#5 Homecare.co.uk

An independent review site for the care industry. You can view thousands of reviews for home care providers so you can read unbiased comments from existing and past clients to hear what the experience is really like.
