Companionship care and support service

Our clients sometimes say it feels as if their world is shrinking, they miss social interaction as they get older because meeting friends and getting out becomes a struggle. Our companionship care service involves listening to what you enjoy doing and supporting you to continue doing it.

Whether that’s a coffee with friends, walking the dog, visiting a garden centre or tending to your geraniums, our companion carers team design a plan to help you do it with greater independence and confidence and greater peace of mind.

Your personalised companion care service

We work flexibly to make sure your companionship care plan is tailored to your lifestyle and fits around friends and family members too.

If you’d like support getting out and about, you can start off with a few hours a week for a couple of months to see the difference it makes seeing a friendly face over regular visits.

Here’s how we can help you.

  • Helping you visit friends and family

  • Supporting you at family social events, such as weddings and birthdays – chin chin!

  • Shopping trips to buy a gift or find an outfit

  • Days out to see the sights

  • Get-togethers to make new connections and friendships

Back to bingo: Mrs R’s story

Enjoying a game of bingo

Mrs R had retreated from the world to such an extent that she didn’t bother to get dressed and spent her days in social isolation watching television behind closed curtains. Our care team worked gently and steadily with her from initial companionship home care visits, during which our caregivers encouraged her to get dressed and join them with a cup of tea and biscuits. Eventually we helped her build enough confidence so that we were able to take her to bingo once a week: an activity she had always loved.

Top Tip: Staying happy and healthy

Exercise is known to keep you mentally and physically healthy, not only can it help to boost your immune system and improve your sleep it can also increase your flexibility. Your local leisure centre is a great place to start and they often offer reduced cost senior memberships. You can learn a new skill, get back into a favourite sport or just enjoy improving your general fitness at a level that suits you. Plus, they’re a great place to meet new people and have a good old catch up with friends, get in touch with your local leisure centre to find out what’s on offer.

There’s also plenty you can do at home. Take a look at our keeping fit and healthy whilst at home blog. It showcases lots of low-impact exercise ideas you can do from the comfort of your own home (or garden!).
