To protect yourself and others the NHS and Department of Health and Social Care are advising you to wash your hands more often than usual, for 20 seconds each time with soap and water, or use hand sanitiser. Washing your hands properly removes dirt, viruses and bacteria to stop them spreading to other people and objects, which can spread illnesses such as food poisoning, flu or diarrhoea.
Remember to wash your hands when you:
Eat or handle food.
Blow your nose, sneeze or cough.
Get home or into work.
We have been distributing the hand washing guides to our clients to display in their homes. If each of us - as carers, family members or visitors - follow these simple guidelines to hand washing we can help prevent the spread of any viruses such as the coronavirus, flu or colds.
